Audition Policy

Auditions are required for placement into the Wind Ensemble or the Symphony Orchestra. Auditions are not required for non-majors wishing to participate in Concert Band, but are used for those interested in higher chair placements and part assignments in sections. Students interested in Jazz Band should contact Dr. Larry Nelson. Students interested in studio chamber ensembles should contact the professor coaching that ensemble.

Students taking applied private lessons are required to audition and be available to play in the major ensembles listed above. Consequently, all music majors are expected to keep their schedules conflict-free until after the audition results have been posted.

Audition Schedule - ONLINE ONLY - Fall 2020

Due to necessary adjustments during the Covid-19 pandemic, all auditions for large ensembles in the Fall 2020 semester will take place via video submission.

2020 Large Ensemble Auditions: Concert Bands and Orchestra Winds
